Heatless Air Dryers – Uses and Working Principle

Heatless air dryers are meant to reduce the amount of moisture in the compressed air. These dryers are best used for processes that require very high air quality or with applications requiring an ultra-low dew point.  These are mostly required in industries such as pharmaceuticals and food processing. You might have noticed or found a packet with a “toxic do not eat” sign over it inside new electronics, medicines, or clothing boxes. These packets contain hygroscopic beads (typically silica or activated alumina) that attract moisture, protecting the merchandise during shipment and storage. This is what a desiccant is used for in the industry, removing moisture from a compressed air stream. Water vapor is exchanged from the moist compressed air into the desiccant, drying the air and causing the desiccant to gradually be saturated with adsorbed water. The regenerative desiccant air dryers must regain its drying capacity to work efficiently. It has a simple principle of passing moist air
