Compressed Air and Gas Dryers-Types and Technology

Compressed Air and Gas have varied applications in different industries. Although, both if not dried can cause severe damages as well as corrosion to pneumatic systems and electromagnetic valves, blistering as well as peeling effect on surfaces painted with spray and increased resistance in flow etc. Hence compressed air and gas need to be dried using dryers. Four types of compressed air and gas dryers: - Refrigerated Air Dryers It reduces the temperature of the air to condensing point forming water vapors. Specially designed refrigerated dryers produce air with dew points of approximately 36°F (2°C). However, applications which are water sensitive should not use these dryers as some water vapors are left in the air, so it does not completely dry out the air or gas. Chemical dryers Beds of chemicals, like calcium chloride and lithium chloride, are laid down over which the air is passed, which attracts the water vapor. Saturated chemicals with water vapors are removed.  Desiccant dryer
